Host's Name: livetoski Location: Boston, MA Zip Code: 02118 Type of Game: Texas Hold'em Style of Game: Cash Game When: Monday/Wednesday Starting at 5pm ends at 2am. (if enough interest is expressed) Friday/Saturday Starting at 7pm, no scheduled end. (if enough interest is expressed) South Boston, Right off the Redline T Game Description: Hey fellow players, I'm looking for a poker game that balances a fun, friendly, networking environment with the entertainment and thrills of a big stakes game. I have played a few places in the city, and I haven’t found the type of game that I am talking about. I have found a few sketchy, seedy underground places, a couple college games, but I have yet to find the young professional game. Maybe I should just host it? I am contemplating this. this post is to see if there is enough interest in such a game. please email me if you would like to see a game like this pop up in boston. Ideally I would like to have a game where there are mainly regulars, 10-20 faces you see every other day, you know their names, job, hobbies, etc. And always a set of guests, (friends of friends) or people that find this link and want to sit and play. Ideally the game would have people like me. Motivated, talented, young professionals who are not professional gamblers, but entrepreneurial in spirit, successful in their careers. I am looking for the game to be a fun atmosphere, where people can feel safe about their money, comfortable in their surroundings, and be able to network and socialize with people that share the same interests. What I don’t want: I don't want a table full of 18 year old internet pros that slice up the game and take advantage of successful businessmen. A few are welcome, and preferred! It is always exciting and challenging to play with grade-A players, but I wouldn’t want to look across the table to see 5 pimply faced kids who can’t drink legally with real Rolexes, who know my hand before I see my cards. Again, a few "sharks" are fine, as they make the game challenging, but i dont want to host a game with myself, my co-workers, and a room full of Phil Iveys. I don’t want deadbeat gamblers. I've seen players come and lose a grand, and hit the ATM, over and over in the same night. If I hosted this game, I would ask that you bring enough cash for a second buy in, or however many you would like just so that I don’t have to see you make the "walk of shame"to an ATM. I won’t allow players to take loans from other players. No troubling gamblers. If you don’t have the money to lose in the name of ENTERTAINMENT, then I don’t want you at my game. I don’t want uber-rich players. You know the guy: frantic, irrational, making bets that are 100x the big blind without seeing his cards. While these players are profitable, and fun to watch, they ruin the game. They insult the people playing with a cavalier attitude, and even though they usually make your pockets fat, they are a pain to deal with. If you're rich, I'm sure the guy sitting next to you is too, just don’t come to my game to flaunt it. I will invite and welcome many players, but I have the right to deny anyone to come back to the game if they fall into these categories. Again, the game is meant to be social. Any problem players can be removed from the game. What I want: Ideally the game would be anywhere from 2/5 to 10/20 NL, with reasonable max buy ins. example, for 2/5 I would think that it is reasonable to set the max buy in at 1000, and if someone wanted to rebuy into a game, or came to a game late, they could buy in near the table average, or big stack, as long as it was okayed by the table. The game would have drink waitresses, Professional Dealers, who would work off tips. I don’t know about free drinks, because the game will not have a rake. I hear raked games are illegal, and this game is meant to be safe and social. We would order from restaurants for food if we wanted. Ideally we would have AT LEAST 1 full table of 10. I'd like to shoot for two, or one and then a smaller, shorthanded game. I like to be able to have the ability to switch tables. Ideally we would have one game at 2/5 and one at 10/20 or something like that. I have a large living room where we would play, enough room for two tables, 3 couches, TV, etc. Kitchen and hang out area. NO SMOKING WHATSOEVER! My living room can't fit more than two full sized tables. Most Likely BYOB, or we can get a delivery service. I am just looking for interest in this game. I don’t think I will be flooded with responses but so far I have 4 people that would play each night, (one co-worker, one friend, and two acquaintances from a prior game.) If i can get this game together next week, I would buy the tables, chips, etc right away. Realistically I dont think it will materialize that quickly. But i will keep my fingers crossed!
